Our Saturday Sessions usually cover greater distances at 'Tortoise' pace and are ideal for those looking for a longer social run with similar slower runners.
Locations vary, so runs won't be in the same place on consecutive weeks!
Following a warmup, we'll be covering 10km+ loop on a variety of trail with easy to medium levels of technicality.
We'll be running at a mostly continuous, social 'Tortoise' pace (usually somewhere between 7-9 mins/km depending on the group) so plan to be out for about 2 hours or so (including the warmup and cooldown).
For these sessions you'll need: Trail shoes or sturdy trainers, water (in a hydration pack or belt), a few snacks (gels, handful of sweets, fruit or an energy bar etc) to fuel yourself en route
You may also need (according to the forecast): a waterproof jacket suitable for running in, a cap or visor, sunglasses, suncream, gloves, a change of clothes for afterwards.
The small print: Whilst we welcome runners of all ability and experience, we recommend that you should be able to run continuously for a full 5km (at whatever pace), on road, trail or treadmill to get the most out of these sessions. Although we may stop to admire views and we'll often walk up hills, we will be spending the majority of the time running slowly, which means we may be out for longer than our speedier friends to cover the distance. Sessions will go ahead in all but dangerous weather conditions, so please be prepared to get wet, muddy and cold as we will continue to run through the autumn and winter!
Dogs are welcome, but they must be used to running canicross style (with a proper canicross harness, bungee line and belt), be fully insured for canicrossing, and happy to trot at a slow pace (Note that not all dogs are comfortable running slowly, and most of our routes are not suitable for freerunning dogs). Running with dogs on handheld leads is not permitted and I reserve the right to refuse participation for dogs who do not meet these requirements, or when temperatures/humidity means it is unsafe for them to run.
Booking: Sessions are based on an easy-to remember rate of £1 per km :) Entries for Saturday Sessions close at 6pm the evening before the run.
