Our regular Tuesday evening trot - perfect for newer runners and those looking to maintain fitness with an easy, slower-paced, midweek run.
Taking in the sweeping expanse of Epsom Downs and Langley Vale, this route crosses the wide paths of Epsom Racecourse and through some mixed woodland trails. There are some long (but not very steep) hills and possible (very) muddy stretches on this loop!
Following a warmup, we'll be covering a 7.5km loop on easier, less technical trails.
We'll be running at a mostly continuous, social 'Tortoise' pace (usually somewhere between 7-9 mins/km depending on the group) so expect to be out for around 70-90 minutes or so (including the warmup and cooldown). Please arrive ready to start at 18.45!
For these sessions you'll need: Trail shoes or sturdy trainers, water for during/afterwards, a headtorch (or chest light) suitable for running in the dark (during darker months), possibly towel and change of shoes/socks for afterwards!
The small print: Whilst we welcome runners of all ability and experience, we recommend that you should be able to run continuously for a full 5km (at whatever pace), on road, trail or treadmill to get the most out of these sessions. Although we may stop to admire views and we'll often walk up hills, we will be spending the majority of the time running slowly, which means we may be out for longer than our speedier friends to cover the distance. If you would like guidance on Couch to 5km beginner running programmes, please don't hesitate to ask! Sessions will go ahead in all but dangerous weather conditions, so please be prepared to get wet, muddy and cold as we run through the autumn and winter, and bring a spare pair of shoes/socks (and a towel) for afterwards!
Dogs are welcome, but they must be used to running canicross style (with a proper canicross harness, bungee line and belt), be fully insured for canicrossing, and happy to trot at a slow pace (Note that not all dogs are comfortable running slowly, and most of our routes are not suitable for freerunning dogs). Running with dogs on handheld leads is not permitted and I reserve the right to refuse participation for dogs who do not meet these requirements, or when temperatures/humidity means it is unsafe for them to run.
Booking: Sessions are based on an easy-to remember rate of £1 per km :) Entries For Tuesday Sessions close at 5pm on the day of the run.
